My name is David. I am a French native speaker translator. As an expatriate, I am constantly dealing with different languages and culture. I have a long experience in Learning and development area, working in a Corporate environment and in Global teams. My main activity was trainer/consultant however it included translating content from HR world (communications, training materials, processes, support materials) but also from other areas: gaming, technical instructions for industry, health and safety, travelling, health, blog article, organisation of events, financial reports from NGO... I don't translate word-by-word but I make sure the final product reflects customer's culture and environment. I write sentences as the native French would speak. I strongly believe that to translate accurately, one needs to master not only the languages and translation techniques but also the subject in both the source and target languages. I am also convinced that to be an efficient translator, one needs to be flexible, be able to work alone or within a constantly moving team and have good organisational skills. My goal when I translate is to release well finished documents or applications that will be easy and pleasant to use. I'm a 29 years old French girl who first worked in Education, then decided to change and study Tourism. After 2 years as a Tour Guide in Portugal, working daily in English, French and basic Portuguese, I'm back in France. Currently working full time as a tour guide in a famous Champagne house, using English and French on a daily bases. Also working on a van transformation, starting to learn Spanish and saving money to go on a WHV in New Zeland in 2023/2024. From 1990 to 2003, I worked mainly as programmer, using various languages such as Fortran, Pascal, C, Visual Basic, SQL, Javascript and Perl and as system administrator, setting computers and networks and familiar with UNIX, and most of Windows OS and Mac OS versions. - From 2001 to 2010, I worked as French translator in an in-house translation department, translating over 7 millions words.
