I hold a B.A. (Languages) degree, two Project Management diplomas and a certificate in html/css and web design, as well as a TEFL diploma, amongst others. I have excellent time management skills, outstanding attention to detail and a highly professional work ethic. ​I have been editing and proofreading university theses, novel and literature manuscripts, newsletter and other publications on a freelance basis since 2002. Fluent in English, Afrikaans and German, with a strong proficiency in Dutch, I offer multiple professional linguistic services. I was employed as a Marketing and Communications Specialist in South Africa for Investec Bank, Commercial Union and Mutual & Federal. After moving to New Zealand, I became the online marketing and communications manager for Spicers Wealth Management in Auckland, followed by senior online communications manager for Tower Financial Advisory Services. Since starting to work as a translator in March 2016 I have translated and revised over 500,000 words in a broad range of fields, including marketing, technical, automotive, medical, sport and many more. I grew up in Germany and have visited my huge American family in the US State Ohio every year for a month, give or take. I have been fluent in English since 1989. I have worked for a medical device producer for over a total of 3 years, translating regulations and processes required by the ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820. I have spent a month going over the new MDSAP guideline. I studied the subjects German and English to teach it at the Gymnasium, which is the equivalent to an academic high school. I will go back to teaching in February, but since I miss working with languages in a more direct way, I want to keep translating different projects. I am also a major modern literature fan and would not mind translating (short) stories, either.

I am a German and French qualified lawyer who has worked for over 20 years as a legal consultant and attorney in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and other jurisdictions. Last year, I relocated to Normandy / France and took a one-year sabbatical. Since January 2022, I have started a language service company and offer legal and book translation services and German and English business language courses. I translate from English or French to German and French or German to English. To maintain the highest quality standards, I currently do not offer translation to French or any other language.
