I have graduated from the faculty of Romance and Germanic languages of the Yerevan State University. Approximately three years I have worked as a translator/interpreter in “Armenia” International Airports doing translations both from Spanish and English. Then I was translating from Russian/English for Armenian Relief Society ( ARS) not governmental organization (NGO). Now I am working in the newspaper “Kanch”, where along with translating I assist in editing and writing articles. I have been translating for more than 10 years. I first started my translation career in mid 1980-ies with a few odd translation / interpretation jobs of a few months each. I then went on to work as a staff translator for the first Soviet-US JV White Nights in 1990 and continued to pursue this career with several other JVs and US companies until 2006, when I became a full-time freelance translator. Besides working as a translator during that period, I also held several other positions in procurement, logistics and administration at these companies, which subsequently proved to be a valuable source of knowledge for my work as an independent translator after 2006.
