I am a freelance translator since 2009 and a Medical Doctor since 1982. I built my professional career at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana at Bogota, Colombia and I specialized in Health Management at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano also at Bogota. I was raised and lived in the United States territory during primary school through the first semester of college. I directed the health area of a medical second opinion company. One of my duties was to gather and translate medical records (including test and imaging reports). Then, I had to translate them from Spanish to English and send them to an interdisciplinary group of expert, specialized doctors, in the United States. Then, when the experts delivered their assessment reports and management suggestions I translated them from English to Spanish. This report included some articles published in medical journals that supported the reports. As the company grew, we hired other translators, and I added to my responsibilities the proofreading of their translations. As well as my experience in health, I have worked as a freelance translator for several companies; during the last four months, I have translated more than 400,000 words. I’m a native Spanish speaker translator with fluency in German, Italian and English. I like to help my clients to overcome any language barrier they may find. I’ve been working since 2014 as a freelance translator and studied a Major in German, Italian and English Translation. I’m very familiarized with CAT Tools. At the same time, I have developed several audiovisual projects as feature films and corporative videos using Subtitle Edit and AegiSub. Among the most recent projects I’ve worked are: 12,000 words translation of a sales brochure for a marketing company (DE-ES); 6,000 words of a Patient Binder (EN-ES). I also translated and adapted legal documents such as Terms & Conditions, NDA agreements, Terms of Service. I always like to ensure seamless style, context, and overall meaning in the target language.

Since completing my MA in Translation in 2010, I have worked as a professional translator, transcreator, editor, final eye, QA specialist and MT post-editor of English into Spanish (Castilian) for international marketing, health and hospitality companies, as well as global agencies specialised in communication, advertising and e-commerce. I am also a confident lead editor with extensive experience successfully leading large teams of editors in order to ensure a spotless final copy: from creating the brief and training the team to nailing the ToV and polishing the texts pre-delivery during QA.
