I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years. I am a Freelance Translator, at your service on your aim to reach people beyond borders and cultural differences by bringing down the language barriers through translation. My native language is Tagalog/Filipino, a language that is spoken by millions of people, not only within our country but also by the immigrants and overseas workers worldwide; English, on the other hand, is our second language. While living abroad, I learned my third language, Spanish (Latin America). This made me fully aware that there is no better way to touch someone's heart but a word said in his own language--his native tongue. I enjoy translation for many reasons. I have always had an interest in foreign languages and cultures, so it is a pleasure for me to have the opportunity to work with them. I also find the process of researching a subject to ensure a solid translation to be particularly satisfying, as well as investigating the expressive possibilities of my target language, an aspect of the translation process that is often overlooked and yet an important element of the quality of the final product. I have experience using tools such as Trados or Memsource, as well as the various reliable reference sources for each language (DIEC; Treccani; RAE; Τριανταφυλλίδη...). The type of translation that most attracts my attention is literary, although I have extensive demonstrable experience in the field of technical translation (recent projects being for the nautical and stone industry).
