Fulltime Turkish Translator

I am Turkish and Azerbaijani citizen, and speaking both languages as mother tongue. I have studied an English medium university and hence, I speak English fluently. Besides, I worked in Russia and learnt Russian language also.

I have been working as a professional translator since sophomore class. After having graduated from Bilkent University's Translation and Interpretation Department in 2002, I worked in several sectors including media and advertisement, while also continuing my profession as a freelancer. For 4 years from early 2003 to 2007, I served as Foreign News and Health Page Editor in national newspaper Tercüman. In the meanwhile, for six issues I served as editor in chief for a monthly alternative health magazine called Bioenergy & Vitamins. Also in 2003, I established my own publishing and music production company, Arkaplan, together with my childhood friends. With Arkaplan we produced several music albums and published more than 10 books. One of the books (ISBN No: 9756128046) was my own title, covering my criticisms -as a young foreign news editor- on the history of Turkish conservative movement. In 2007, I decided to leave media sector and refocused on my original profession in linguistics. I started as Project Manager in Avrasya Translation, and after having gained some very valuable experience on clients, projects and translation tools I decided to continue as a full time freelance translator. I have graduated from the Translation and Interpreting Studies Department of Yeditepe University. The experience I have accumulated as a student of one of the most prestigious universities in the country has been valuable for improving my speed, learning work ethics, and getting accustomed to diverse fields. I studied in Russia for 7 years and worked there for 3 years. I worked as a journalist, city guide, translator and interpreter. I translated documental movies for Russian Travel Guide, translated so many political, economical, touristic and sport news in a media language for Turkish news agencies and local Turkish news websites in Russia. I also translated the help section of Yandex.Mail service into Turkish language. Besides all of this, I translated so many personal documents, contracts and government documents. Among the courses I've taken there are consecutive interpreting, gender studies and translation, medical translation, audiovisual translation, literary translation, editing and proofreading.
