Hello everybody! My name is Braj. I am working as a freelance translator for the last seven years. Over the years, I have translated a variety of texts in all the major fields, such as medical, technical and legal texts, literary texts, tourist information, web pages, and advertising leaflets. However, my preferred subjects are legal translations, tourism & leisure industry and sales & marketing. My translations are 100% handmade, which means that I never use machine-translation programs, only the best translators tools existing on the market, such as MemoQ and SDL Trados, for the simple reason of saving time in order to deliver the commissioned work in the record time. Before starting any translation, I thoroughly study the topics related to the text subject, and always consult specialised dictionaries and manuals.

I hold a B.A. (Languages) degree, two Project Management diplomas and a certificate in html/css and web design, as well as a TEFL diploma, amongst others. I have excellent time management skills, outstanding attention to detail and a highly professional work ethic. ​I have been editing and proofreading university theses, novel and literature manuscripts, newsletter and other publications on a freelance basis since 2002. Fluent in English, Afrikaans and German, with a strong proficiency in Dutch, I offer multiple professional linguistic services. I was employed as a Marketing and Communications Specialist in South Africa for Investec Bank, Commercial Union and Mutual & Federal. After moving to New Zealand, I became the online marketing and communications manager for Spicers Wealth Management in Auckland, followed by senior online communications manager for Tower Financial Advisory Services. I relocated permanently to Ireland in 2012, and am based in Dublin city.

I have been translating and editing Italian to English professionally since the end of 2016 and as a hobby for more than a decade. My focus is IT, marketing, retail, software, general business and creative writing. Prior to translating I worked for 20+ years in IT, sales and general management.

I am a English & German native speaker with a great passion for language. Since 2014 I have been working as English to German freelance translator. In addition to that I have also gained valuable in-house experience by working at established and well-known translation agencies occupying roles as translation checker and proof-reader as well as project manager and translator.

I lived in Germany for 13 years, working as a translator and teacher of English. Six years ago I returned to live in the UK, and took the DipTrans examination of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (passed with a merit in general translation , a pass in social sciences and a distinction in Business). I have experience in translation in the following areas - marketing, business, finance, fashion, websites, religious/spiritual themes, medical/pharmaceutical, university papers and theses, social sciences, literature. I am also happy to take on proofreading, editing and transcription assignments. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
