I switched to translation after 20+ years of legal practice on 3 continents. Apart from translation proper, I offer professional localization, on-brand translation, and transcreation services. - I am the Russian/Ukrainian to English legal / oil & gas translator of choice at three dozen translation agencies and law firms on both sides of the Atlantic. - I have an impressive collection of Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, and Uzbek laws, codes of practice, and standards in English, translated by yours truly and/or my team members over two decades. The quality standard is much higher than that of “official” translations available on government websites. - I routinely translate over 200,000 words on a monthly basis (sustainable word count for legal material). I accept rush and weekend jobs with a small markup. I am also on-call 24/7 in case of an emergency.

I have a M.A. degree in Russian language, literature and linguistics from the University of Arizona, and my translations are read by undergraduate university students across the United States in the pages of _The Russia Reader_ (Duke University Press, 2010). I have also completed three years of German-language study at the University of Arizona. I worked extensively for over four years on the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics Project by translating a variety of documents, ranging from press releases and brochures to technical construction diagrams of the Olympic facilities. If you watched any of the English-language broadcasts of the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 2014, then you would have heard some of my translations of the speeches of officials as read by the TV commentators. I have also contributed translations of marketing materials that advance the business goals of major companies active in both Russia and Germany. For example, last fall I translated the annual report of a major Russia-based steel producer targeted at investors. I have also recently translated the clothing catalog of a German manufacturer of music merchandise. Let me help you tackle your next translation or proofreading project. Using my cultural knowledge and academic training, I can help you avoid embarrassing mistranslations that can be hard to avoid when dealing with texts not just written in another language, but produced by a different culture. My home office computer equipment includes two laptop computers (a Mac and a PC, allowing me to run a variety of CAT software, including SDL Trados Studio 2014). I perform daily backups, and I have high-speed Internet access. With each freelance project I undertake, I guarantee high quality work delivered on or before the deadline and prompt responses to your phone calls and e-mails.

Dedicated freelance Russian translator, editor and proofreader with extensive experience working in international sales and marketing in a world class company. This experience, coupled with my translation skills, means that I can offer my clients the winning combination of first-hand knowledge of buyer motivation and qualification questioning, and a linguistic flair that allows clients to fully engage with their target audience. I'm an experienced writer with a first class BA in journalism and creative writing. Having written everything from e-commerce copy to academic essays, I can translate, edit and adapt an extensive range of texts for my clients' delectation, including articles, scripts, novellas, blog posts (and other assorted web content), and even poetry. Though raised in England, I work part-time as an English Teacher in Russia with all levels up to advanced. Therefore, I have a finely honed grasp of the intricacies of the language and plenty of experience editing and re-shaping the written work of non-native writers. Having worked for various online businesses, I have written and proofread web content in abundance using different CMS platforms (including Magento and Wordpress). I can also write basic web codes (up-to-date HTML and CSS3).

I've been born to German-speaking Austrian parents but was raised in English-speaking Canada. Due to this fact and to the fact that I competed my Master's in Austria, I am fluent in both languages and am fond of translating from German into English. Since 2000, when I started my translator's career, I've managed to translate millions of words in a great range of fields, from fiction to medicine.

I'm an English speaker with sufficient grasp of the Russian language, including for use in the technical sphere having completed my undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering with Russian language as the primary language of study. While I'm not a professionally trained and certified translator, I have been involved in various translation projects that do not require attestation, especially for technical documentations of products for markets outside CIS region. Additionally, I have assisted with proofreading of translations done by trained and certified professionals.
